Which First-Year Character Are You?

Ten original questions to match you with a character from Harry’s first-year adventure. A playful result, ready to share.

At a glance

Meet your first-year adventure match

This is a light quiz about the people you meet during Harry’s first year, including pupils, older students and adults. Hagrid, McGonagall and the twins are possible results; they are not described as first-year pupils. Choose the answer closest to what you would actually do, rather than the one that sounds most impressive.

There are no correct answers and no house sorting. Your match reflects the choices in this quiz, not your ability, identity or future. You can appreciate a character’s useful trait without agreeing with everything they do. Read the result as an invitation to talk about a strength and a small challenge.

The ten questions stay on the page so you can review a choice before scoring. Answers are processed in your browser and are not sent to us or stored. JavaScript calculates the match and makes a text-only share image; the questions and all eight descriptions remain readable without it. Nothing uses a performer’s picture or likeness.

If two characters tie, the first in the result list wins. That simple rule keeps the same answers consistent. Changing an answer can change the result; it does not make the earlier result wrong. Play together, compare the different approaches and let each person choose whether to share.
